as a Second Language teacher. She earned her certification from the University of
Seattle. In addition to teaching ESL at Let's Talk, she also teaches ESL to immigrants
who are predominantly from East Africa and who work at the Maine Medical Center in
Portland.
Let's Talk also runs week-long English Immersion programs in April and in October.
In April 2009, students from the Beauce Region in Quebec attended the immersion
program. In addition to 12 hours of classroom instruction, they visited museums,
attended dance and yoga classes, and partied and learned salsa with students from
Let's Talk at the school's year-end party, among other local activities.
The program is successful in large part to the volunteers who accompany the
students on the field trips which provides lots of opportunities for English
conversation.
