with Sonia Adalgiza Zepeda Stevenson. Sonia grew up in a
farming family in El Salvador. She earned an M.A. from
Middlebury College and teaches Spanish at Erskine Academy.
Sonia’s curriculum relies on a mix of structured teaching, short
videos and colorful stories about her native country. It’s a
special event when Sonia’s mother comes to the class and
demonstrates how to make some El Salvadoran dishes.

Brown-bag Cena – Informal conversation in Spanish. Bring
your own comida every Thursday from 6:15 - 7:15 pm with Carlos

Spanish Level III - IV, Thursdays, 7:15 - 8:45 pm starts 2/11
with Carlos Villacorta. Carlos is a native of Peru. He has a B.A.
from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru and a PhD from
Boston University. For the past five years he taught Spanish at
Boston University and Simmons College while earning his PhD.
This year he is a visiting assistant professor of Spanish at Colby
College. Carlos uses a variety of media in his class including
videos, music and short stories and art. His class includes
material about the history, culture and people of Peru and Latin
America.
