What Level
Should I
Take?
Classes for rank beginners are offered only in the fall
semester. The trick is to fit into a class where you are
comfortable. Some people prefer to be towards the
top of their class while others want to stretch more.
If you are uncertain which level you should be in,
please call the school. Here is a brief description of
the levels for the Spring 2008 semester:
Level I - Beginners, but have studied at least a
little of the language or have completed one
semester of Level I.
Level II - For people who have taken two
semesters of  Level I or have studied the language in
the past. Much of the instruction is in the language.
Level III - For people who have taken two
semesters of Level II and have done some work on
their own. Also for people who have taken classes
during high school, college or elsewhere, used the
language somewhere and feel comfortable putting
together sentences and understanding instruction in
the language. Students should stay in Level III until
they are able to converse.
Level IV - Intermediate. This is as high as we go. No
English spoken at all. The Spanish, French  Level IV
classes focus on short stories, current events and
culture.
Kids Express
An after-school program for fourth and fifth graders from the Albert S. Hall School

Let’s Talk Language School has teamed up with the Albert S. Hall School Kids Express program to offer
after-school classes in French and Spanish. The six-week classes will be held after school on Thursdays in
the Spring of 2008, starting February 28th. Kids Express was conceived by a group of parents from the
Albert S. Hall School to provide cultural and creative activities for kids after school.
According to the Center for Applied Linguistics, learning a second language offers many benefits for
young students such as higher academic achievement, positive attitudes toward diversity, flexibility in thinking
and sensitivity to language.
If your child is a student at the Albert S. Hall School and is interested in learning French or Spanish, look
in your child’s backpack for upcoming information about the Kids Express after-school programs. The
teachers for this program are Patty Vashon (French) and Monica Fallow (Spanish).
